Hooray for green manure. Nick sewed alfalfa and red clover last autumn and tilled the soil a couple of weeks ago before the snow hit. We are, as you can see, weed free and hopefully, the soil is feeling better for its green fix. I should probably have waited another week or two for the weather to cheer, but the bare earth was too much of a temptation, so we have tucked in some broad beans, used the bath as a seedbed for leeks and cavolo nero, and filled two black rubber buckets with carrots. Oh yes, and I also put in a couple of rows of beetroot.
It has now rained enough for Noah to think nails and a hammer might be handy, and further planting efforts have been put on hold - probably a good thing.
